Happy Father’s Day - Best TV & Movie Dad Tattoos
Fathers - can’t live with them, can’t physically exist without their contribution to your DNA.
This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating our favourite dads in film and TV - good and evil, loving and distant, we’ve got father figures of all shapes and sizes in this selection of dad tattoo designs inked by some of our incredible sponsored artists.
Nicklas Wong & Michael Taguet - Alien Dads
“He will pay the ultimate price for what he has done to my son.”
Goku and Vegeta start out as hot-headed alien enemies, but soon find themselves each settled down with a good woman and two kids. Vegeta is a pretty good dad to Bulla and Trunks, even abstaining from saving the world so he could be present for Bulla’s birth - here Nicklas Wong tattoos a furious Vegeta in Super Saiyan mode. Michael Taguet made this vibrant piece of Goku taking Gohan on a Nimbus ride, and while’s not always there for his kids, we know he loves them both.

David Corden & Brad Wallis - Adopted Dads
“He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn’t your daddy”.
Yondu spoke those wise words in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and while he wasn’t always the best parent figure, you can’t deny he was better than Ego. We love this cheeky colour realism portrait by David Corden, which shows a softer side to the Ravager. Thanos, on the other hand, is probably in the big leagues of bad dads. This black and grey portrait by Brad Wallis clearly shows his ruthless side as he wields the Infinity Gauntlet (you know, the one he tortured one daughter and murdered the other to acquire).

Matt Daniels & Duncan Whitfield - Dumb Dads
“The key to parenting is don’t overthink it. Because overthinking leads to … what were talking about?”
Now, Homer Simpson. Good dad or bad dad? It’s hard to say, but we can all agree that this piece by Matt Daniels is an awesome pop culture rendition of the moment Homer eats a Guatemalan Insanity Pepper, framed by flames. Duncan Whitfield combined black and grey realism with lettering to show Del Boy, father of Damien Derek Trotter, but the important question here is - if Damien is the antichrist, what does that make Del Boy?

Phatt German & Hugo Feist - Killer Dads
“Parenting is just learning as you go.”
Dexter Morgan is maybe not the best dad - he has two step-children he forgets about when their mother dies, and a son that he abandons to his serial killer girlfriend. We’re not about to defend his actions, but this portrait piece by Phatt German featuring his boat “Slice of Life” and trophy slides is pure bloody brilliance. Hugo Feist takes on Walter White - again, not the best father figure - in this black and grey zombie-style piece, featuring crystals, an atom and a graffiti-style “BAD” across his cheek.

Chris Jones & Adrian Hidalgo - Villainous Dads
“You’re the best evil son an evil dad could ever ask for.”
Throughout Magneto’s long and various lives in the Marvel universe, he’s fathered and abandoned more than his fair share of children, and we’d never say he’s a good father. Chris Jones inked this powerful portrayal of a young Magneto played by Michael Fassbender, clearly more interested in power than fatherhood! Adrian Hidalgo’s take on Dr Evil - who’s such a bad father that he treats his clone better than his own son - is done in black and grey and also shows Mini-Me, with Adrian using blue ink sparingly to highlight their eyes.

Peter Murray & Toni Angar - Unintentional Dads
“You have something I want. You may think you have some idea of what you have in your possession, but you do not. Soon, he will be back with me. He means more to me than you will ever know.”
Din Djarin - or Mando to the fans - shows his excellent fathering credentials early on in his care for Grogu, even (spoiler alert) officially adopting him later on, so this neo-traditional piece from Pete Murray feels much more like a father-son image than anything else! Toni Angar tattooed this brutal neo-traditional style Guts from Berserk, an unwitting father to a demonic child that nevertheless protects him.

Kyle “Egg” Williams & Duda Lozano - Goofy Dads
“The lesson I want you to learn is it doesn't matter what you look like. You can be tall or short, or fat or thin, or ugly or handsome, like your father…What does matter is the size of your heart and the strength of your character.”
This blackwork portrait of the iconic Herman Munster - one of Frankenstein’s monsters - shows how goofy this kind father and husband was, and we love the expression Kyle “Egg” Williams has captured on his face. Fred Flintstone might have Homer Simpson-levels of loud oafishness, but he sure does love his daughter Pebbles, his grandchildren, and even goes on to adopt the orphan boy Stoney. This patch-style piece from Duda Lozano shows Fred at his happiest - when he wins at bowling.

Anrijs Straume & Cloto - Mad Dads
“Oh, dude, no... no. Bad father all the way to the max over here. I'm a fucking nutcase. And the acorn plops straight down, baby.”
Anrijs Straume used his own dark trash realism style of work to make this demonic-looking Jack Torrance - and it’s probably safe to say that any dad who chases his son through a hedge maze with an axe is no good. Cloto brought the colourful 2D characters from Rick and Morty into the third dimension, but for what it’s worth, there’s no doubt - Rick Sanchez is a terrible father, and even he knows it.

Sonny Mitchell & Isnard Barbosa - Tragic Dads
“You may not have my name, but you have my blood."
This soft black and grey realism piece by Sonny Mitchell shows Ned Stark, father of six, in the moment he carries out the death sentence on an unfortunate Night’s Watch deserter. Sadly for his kids, the character was played by Sean Bean, making his early death inevitable. On the other hand, Darth Vader has to be one of the worst dads in movie history, even if he tries to redeem himself in the end. This neo-traditional take on the character by Isnard Barbosa definitely showcases his ugly side.

Mauro de la Fuente & David Barrera - Uncle Dads
“Leaves from the vine, falling so slow, like fragile tiny shells drifting in the foam.”
Is someone cutting onions in here? Mauro de la Fuente’s neo-traditional take on Uncle Iroh in Earth Kingdom clothes enjoying a cup of hot tea is so wholesome - while we never got to see him as a father to his son, he’s one hell of a father figure for his nephew Zuko. Fresh Prince’s Uncle Phil is by no means perfect, but compared with Will’s biological dad, there’s no competition. This lovely colour realism portrait by David Barrera shows him at his happiest and most open.

Samanta Annie & Johnny Domus - Protective Dads
“Let me tell you somethin', A.J. I don't care how close you are, in the end your friends are gonna let you down. Family: they're the only ones you can depend on.”
Samanta Annie made this vibrant Gruffalo with his child, telling her not to go after the big bad mouse. Most parents could guess how well that goes! Tony Soprano, on the other hand, is a whole other kind of beast, which is clearly shown in this sick neo-traditional piece from Johnny Domus which imprints a gun on his face and the Latin word “Fini” - meaning “done” - on his knuckles.

Charles Huurman & Sissy_Ink - Warrior Dads
“It is not easy being a father. It is even harder being a husband. Maybe I have failed at both.”
Let’s get historical! We love this King Leonidas from 300 piece by Charles Huurman, framed beautifully by the rivers of blood he leaves his son Pleistarchus behind to create. Sissy_Ink created a huge black and grey portrait piece of Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings, father to six children - including one who may not be his biologically, but whom he treats as a true son.

Khan Tattoo & Tiggy - Wholesome Dads
“Listen, you’re my children and I love you, but you’re all terrible at what you do here and I feel like I should tell you. I’d fire all of you if I could.”
These may well be the two best dads on the list! Firstly Khan Tattoo takes on this brilliant colour realism piece of Gomez Addams in a romantic moment, as portrayed by Raul Julia - Gomez may be a bit much at times, but he truly cares for Wednesday, Pugsley and Pubert. Bob Belcher is also a dad of three, and while he’s not quite as expressive as Gomez, his kids know he loves them - this vibrant tattoo by Tiggy shows him dressed as an Equestranaut to help his daughter, and the addition of Gene dressed as his father really adds to the wholesome family vibes in this vibrant sleeve.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this collection of tattoos showcasing the best and worst dads from movie and TV! If you can, give your old man a hug, and share your favourite father tattoos with us on Instagram and Facebook!
